Altered Clipboard

Here is another gift item I made for this Christmas.  I bought a 97 cent clipboard at wal-mart and covered it, embellished it & sealed it.  Most of the items I used are non-SU and I apologize.  You could do the same thing using our SU projects, but I really enjoy personalizing the gift to the receipient and my SU papers just weren’t quite right.

I used Modge Podge as glue to hold the paper to the clipboard and then again over top of everything to seal it (mostly from water damage from a spilled drink, or something like that).

Anyway…come on back tomorrow, I’ll show you my last altered gifts from recently.

Card Purse

Wow.  This has been a crazy weekend!  My husband’s family was here for Thanksgiving & Christmas festivities, so all day Friday & Saturday my house was full of people, food, and presents.  And now that I’ve had a day to breathe again, all I’m left with is a giant mess to clean up.  But, such is the way of the holidays.

Anyway…the exciting part is – now that I’ve gifted these things, I can post them for you to see what exactly has been keeping me busy for the last month or so.

This is a version of the Bag-in-a-Box that was altered by Andrea Walford so that it would be large enough to hold standard sized greeting cards.  My mother-in-law enjoys sending cards to people so I usually make her a set of blank cards for a gift.  This one was no exception.

I used the retired Rose Red Prints designer series paper and the new stamp set A Rose is a Rose.  The colors are Regal Rose, Rose Red, Certainly Celery, Old Olive & Whisper White.  I stamped the largest rose onto Whisper White, stamped a leaf next to it, and then cut the whole image out with my craft knife (but you could use paper snips too).  Next I cut a strip of Whisper White and punched both edges with my Scallop Edge punch.  I took my 1/8 inch hand-held punch to punch a hole in each scallop to mimic the look of lace.  Finally I used a piece of Rose narrow grosgrain ribbon to add the feeling of fabric.  The large rose is adhered with dimensionals, but I used SNAIL for everything else.

I have to get back to cleaning now, but I have lots more gift ideas to show you, so please come back tomorrow!

Have a great week!

New Online Class Available

Punch up your gift giving this holiday season with this adorable little house and six coordinating cards with envelopes created using the Frosty Day DP and Punch Pals stamp set! Include one of these 4″ x 4″ gift cards with each of the presents you give out this year and then package up some treats in a cello bag, put them in the box, and give the box itself as a gift! You could also gift that hard-to-shop for person with the whole set!

This class kit will include the step-by-step instructions for this fabulous project, as well as all of the ribbon, card stock and designer paper pre-cut and pre-scored to make the project assembly easy.  No thinking required!  Just follow the step by step instructions using the prepared supplies and embellish as you choose.

All of this is available to you for $25.00 + $5.00 for Priority Shipping.

Orders need to be placed by 12 noon on Friday, November 28.

Once I have received your order I will email you with a supply list for the class.  Things on the supply list will include Stamps, Ink, Punches, Adhesive, Glitter & Embellishments.  Then you can go through your supplies and see what you have and what you need to order.

Doing it this way allows each class member to spend only what you need to spend, and cuts down on receiving duplicate items as part of a kit.  For example, if you have the Punch Pals stamp set already, then you wouldn’t need to purchase that stamp set.  Also, if you have the Mr. Twigster stamp set, you could substitute that stamp set for the Punch Pals set, saving you money as well.

Once you’ve marked your supply list, and if you have items you need to order, you can quickly and easily order online through my demonstrator business website:  http://crazystampgirl.stampinup.net by clicking on “Shop Now”.

Your Class Kit and your Stampin’ Up!® supplies are delivered right to your door, and voila – a full stamp class at your convenience in the comfort of your own home.  (You could even stamp in your jammies!)

When you’re ready to sign up for this online class, please click the button below to order your class kit.

***This offer is not available for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.  If you are a SU demo and are interested in this online class, please email me for more information.***

The registration period is over.  If you’re interested in taking one of the remaining spots for a late-fee, please email me by noon on Dec 6.

If you’d rather stamp with your friends, order a kit for each one and have a girls night out!  Or, order a Class Kit and a SU Gift Certificate as a Christmas gift for the crafter in your life.

If you have any questions, please email me.  Remember orders must be placed by 12 noon on Black Friday (Fri Nov 28).  I can’t wait to share this kit with you!

Scrapbooking Family Traditions

All of us have things that have become “tradition” in our family. It could be as simple as the routine that your children go through every night to get ready for bed, or as complex as getting the whole, extended family together for Thanksgiving dinner. Either way, these moments make your family unique and should be preserved on your scrapbook pages. My family picks apples each year in September. Then, we come home and make an apple pie (destined each year to be the only home-made pie made in our house all year long). Apple Picking Pictures make great scrapbook pages, however, take the time to consider what routines or traditions your family has. Snap some photos to document these moments and include the story in your scrapbook.

Traditions Memory Triggers:

  1. Go through your calendar over the last year and think about what things your family does every Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter.

  2. Look in your daily planner, and consider what routines your family has each month, week, or day.

  3. Does your extended family do something special to celebrate holidays? Birthdays? Weddings? New Babies? Or other important events?

Create a Simple Scrapbook -

Family Traditions would make a perfect Simple Scrapbook. Purchase a small album and fill the pages with things that make your family special. This book will become a family treasure. By keeping it simple you may even be able to complete this album in a weekend.

  • And The Fans Go Wild – Pam Talluto’s family members are united by their enthusiasm for the Detroit Lions.** Pam created an album to record the experiences that reinforce this bond. It will inspire you to create albums about your family’s passions.

  • What Is a Simple Scrapbook? – When you’re ready to create a simple scrapbook, start with this formula. Answering these nine questions will help determine the purpose and format for your album. For reference, keep this formula in a handy place as you gather your materials, design and create pages, or add future updates.

  • Family Cookie Scrapbook – Need a family reunion idea that’s easy, fun and sure to be a big hit? Host a cookie contest! Family members of all ages are bound to enjoy this activity of tasting and sharing, and you can make it even more memorable by creating a small scrapbook of photos and cookie recipes. You’ll not only have a great reunion keepsake for each family to take home, but a collection of favorite recipes at the same time!

Tiny Treat Box

Hey, there!  Today’s project is another 3D item.  It’s a tiny little treat box made from the Ski Slope DSP and some acetate.

Here’s another view:

This was super quick & easy to make!  The box bottom measures 3″ x 4.25″.  Then I scored at 7/8″ on all sides.  Next, cut the tabs in from the short ends, fold up your box sides and adhere.  The box top is made exactly the same way out of acetate, but it measures 3 1/8″ x 4 3/8″.  (still score at 7/8″ on all sides).  I tied a piece of Chocolate narrow grosgrain ribbon around the middle and Ta-Da!

This little box would be perfect for lunch boxes, brief cases, purses, stocking stuffers – it’s small and cute and is a sneaky way to remind someone you love them.  :)   My treats are giant gum drops, but you could alter the box size to fit almost anything!

If you want to order the things you’d need to make these little favors, email me and I will get you a complete list.

Minnie Christmas Ornament

Okay, finally, I have a chance to post something!  I’m actually proud of this one because it doesn’t use any stamping and started out as a clear glass Christmas ornament.

I took some black craft ink and squeezed it inside the ornament and rolled it around and around and around to coat the inside with ink.  I let it sit and dry.  Next I cut out two circles with my Coluzzle that were approximately the right size/scale for ears.  I cut off the bottom of each circle, making sure to leave enough to make a tab for attaching the card stock to the Christmas ornament.  Then I coated the ears in Crystal Effects.  You’ll have to coat one side, and leave it dry for a while (I left mine overnight).  Then come back and coat the other side and let it dry.  Once both ears were dry, I attached the ears to the glass ornament using Crystal Effects and again, let it dry.  Finally I used some ribbon I had (shhh non-SU ribbon) to make Minnie Mouse’s bow.

I really think she turned out cute!

A quick check in

Hi, everyone!  I’m still here.  Our internet/cable provider disconnected us on Friday instead of our neighbor. So I’ve been going through withdrawal from you all!  We’re finally here and up and running again so hopefully I can get the newsletter out in the next couple of days along with some blog posts with new projects up.

I have been working all weekend on finishing my holiday table setting, so hopefully tonight or tomorrow I can get some pictures up.

I’m also getting another online class organized, so keep your eyes peeled for that.

I wish I had time to post everything now, but duty calls (three hungry kids waiting for lunch).  So, for now, here’s a big group hug because I missed you   and I’ll be back as soon as I can to post again!

Happy Stamping!

Challenge Card

Today’s card is my submission for the KWernerDesignBlog color challenge.  Here are the colors:

I saw this and really was sure about this combination, but then I found a card that used the tag punches to make purses and the ideas just all came together.  Here’s the end result:

Please email me if you have any questions.  The colors are from the challenge pallette, the stamp set is You and Moi, the ribbon is White grosgrain and the brads are silver.

Have a great weekend!
